		<description>This was a good article, and I enjoyed it.  Too many people focus on the wars opening battles in the east (Bull Run, McCllelan&#039;s campaign in West Virginia).  Grant showed the country that he could fight, as well as organize and train recruits. Not bad for a captain that resigned from the army in disgrace when stationed in California, far from his wife and loved ones.

		<description>I enjoyed your article on the Battle of Belmont.  I visited the site years ago.  You have to take dirt roads to get to it and there was only a single plaque and map  briefly describing the battle.  I wish more were there.  Columbus looks pretty imposing from there.</description>
