BattlefieldPortraits.com moving to a new format

Hansborough Ridge south of Brandy Station Battlefield

As many of you know, I have another website that chronicles my battlefield visits, BattlefieldPortraits.com.  This is my original website and has a significant amount of pictures, battlefield descriptions and early book reviews.  Since I started This Mighty Scourge, in December 2008, I have updated some content on BattlefieldPortraits.com.  However, due to a significant amount of manual work in updating this site I have started to migrate some of my newer pictures to Flickr.  It is much easier to add content and is available to more viewers.  I will continue to add content to my old site, but not in as much quantity, with most of my new content being added to This Mighty Scourge.  At some point, I may migrate my pictures from Battlefield Portraits to Flickr, but not in the near future.

This evening, I added my first large set of pictures to Flickr.  These pictures are part of recent visits to Brandy Station Battlefield in March and May 2009.  I will continue to add photo sets to Flickr as I write about battles on this blog.  All told, I have upwards of 20 battlefields that I have not added to my other site so there will be much new content added to my blog and Flickr.  Hopefully you like the new format.

About Michael Noirot

I grew up in the Central Illinois farming community, of Dunlap. Growing up, I played sports, tinkered with cars and enjoyed photography. While I did well in school, I did not become passionate about history until my early 30's. I have built a large library, of books on early America, politics and the Civil War. I am an avid reader. Fortunately, I have had plenty of opportunities to travel, over the years, and have been to most of the Civil War battlefields. I work while I travel, so more often than not, I am up, in the middle of the night, to get sunrise pictures, or I will be out until well after dark, exploring Civil War battlefields. I have other hobbies, and passions, that I really enjoy. Number one on the list would be guitar. I play my guitars on a regular basis, and enjoy the Bluegrass, and Contemporary Christian (CCM) genres. I play a style of guitar, called FLATPICKING, where using a flat pick, you play lead solos, similar to the way a fiddle would have been played during the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Laura, my wife, and I also enjoy scuba diving, travel and spending time at our property, in the country. Lastly, we spend as much time with our families, as possible. Thanks for stopping by.
