New Updates to This Mighty Scourge’s Blogroll

I have been reading several new blogs, over the past several weeks.  I have added them to my blogroll, as I believe you will also find them interesting.

  • The 48th Pennsylvania Infantry- John David Hoptak’s blog on the 48th Pennsylvania.  Hoptak is a self professed Civil War enthusiast and a National Park Service guide at Antietam National Battlefield.  One of my favorite regiments, the 48th was responsible for digging the mine, at the Battle of the Crater.
  • Myles Keogh – Three Wars; Two Continents; One Irish Soldier – This blog has rapidly become one of my favorites.  Myles Keogh was an Irish fighter that served in the American Civil War.  He would be killed at George Custer’s Battle of the Little Big Horn.
  • Gettysburg Daily – The Gettysburg Daily is a blog of the current happenings in, and around Gettysburg.  Their mission is to provide at least one picture per day related to Gettysburg.  I highly recommend this blog for anyone planning on visiting Gettysburg – or anyone with an interest in the battle.
  • Civil War Navy- Andrew Duppstadt’s blog on the Civil War Navy, and other historical musing.  Andrew is the Assistant Curator of Education for the North Carolina Division of Historic Sites.  A great blog on the U.S. Navy’s contribution to the American Civil War.
  • Daughter of the 24th Michigan- Kristina Austin Scarcelli’s blog on the Iron Brigade’s 24th Michigan Infantry.  Scarcelli is a descendant of private Abner D. Austin, of the 24th Michigan.  She is also a former Mrs. Michigan.  As I have a significant interest in the Iron Brigade, I really enjoy this blog.
  • Michigan Civil War Blog – John M. “Jack” Dempsey is a self described “Civil War student by fascination.”  He sits on the board of the Michigan Historical Commission, Michigan History Foundation and the Historical Society of Michigan.  This blog is self explanatory and covers Michigan during the Civil War.
  • Civil War Books and Authors- Andrew Wagenhoffer’s excellent blog on Civl War books.  A must read for all serious Civil War scholars.

Please take some time and review these excellent blogs.  Like me, I am sure you will want to add them to your daily RSS feed list.

About Michael Noirot

I grew up in the Central Illinois farming community, of Dunlap. Growing up, I played sports, tinkered with cars and enjoyed photography. While I did well in school, I did not become passionate about history until my early 30's. I have built a large library, of books on early America, politics and the Civil War. I am an avid reader. Fortunately, I have had plenty of opportunities to travel, over the years, and have been to most of the Civil War battlefields. I work while I travel, so more often than not, I am up, in the middle of the night, to get sunrise pictures, or I will be out until well after dark, exploring Civil War battlefields. I have other hobbies, and passions, that I really enjoy. Number one on the list would be guitar. I play my guitars on a regular basis, and enjoy the Bluegrass, and Contemporary Christian (CCM) genres. I play a style of guitar, called FLATPICKING, where using a flat pick, you play lead solos, similar to the way a fiddle would have been played during the 19th and early 20th Centuries. Laura, my wife, and I also enjoy scuba diving, travel and spending time at our property, in the country. Lastly, we spend as much time with our families, as possible. Thanks for stopping by.
